Saturday, February 18
The Islanders won both games of a doubleheader with EJ
Sports Titans at the College of Alameda on Saturday, February 18,
2011. Three Islander pitchers combined for a no-hitter in the first
game, a 6 to 2 win. Austin Stenstedt picking up the win, and Sebastian
Silva and Will Avellar also appearing on the mound. Avellar and Silva
joined Kyle Averitt, Carson Bridges, Wesley Cheung, Augustus Moseley,
and Francisco Pedraza in leading the Islander offensive effort with
base hits to contribute to the victory.
Both Saturday games were
come-from-behind wins for the Islanders, with the second game, a 7 to
6 victory, ending on a dramatic note, as Ethan Lathon, in the bottom
of the seventh, scorched a double that scored Augustus Moseley and
Carson Bridges with the tying and winning runs. Francisco Pedraza
picked up the win with a one inning appearance, following solid
pitching performances by Will Avelar and Kyle Averitt.
