Alameda Babe Ruth teams play at a number of different fields around the island.
Below are the fields authorized for "game" use.  
Practices may be scheduled at other locations.

Lincoln Park

(On Fernside, between Central and Liberty Aves)

Directions:
If coming from out of town...

  • Take Highway 880 like you're going to the Oakland Airport.

  • Take the High Street exit and go West (towards the bay).

  • Go over bridge and into Alameda.

  • At the first signal, take a LEFT onto Fernside.  Go about 1/2 mile.  The fields will be on your right.  

    There's limited parking in the back; go down driveway along right side of field.  Otherwise park on Fernside.



Godfrey Park

(corner of Beach and Melrose Streets)

Directions:
If coming from out of town...

  • Take Highway 880 like you're going to the Oakland Airport.

  • Take the High Street exit and go West (towards the bay).

  • Go over bridge and into Alameda.

  • Take a LEFT on Otis Drive and go over the Bay Farm Bridge.

  • Take the first RIGHT onto Island Drive.

  • After golf course (on your left) turn LEFT on Maitland Dr.

  • Turn LEFT on Melrose.

  • The field is dead-ahead at the junction of Melrose & Beach.

    Street parking on Beach and Seminary.



Navy Base Field

(on old Naval Air Station, on West Redline Ave.)

Directions:
If coming from out of town...

(If you know how to get to Alameda via "The Tube" on the west end, that's the quickest way - just go through The Tube and take a RIGHT on Atlantic, then follow directions from Atlantic as outlined below...)

Otherwise:

  • Take Highway 880 like you're going to the Oakland Airport.

  • Take the High Street exit and go West (towards the bay).

  • Go over bridge and into Alameda.

  • Take a RIGHT on Central Ave.  

  • Go all the way across The Island to Webster Street and turn RIGHT towards Oakland/The Tube.

  • Turn LEFT on Atlantic.

  • Turn RIGHT on Main Street. Follow the road around past the Ferry Terminal and go through the North Gate into the old base.

  • After the gate, veer to the RIGHT and take the first RIGHT on W. Red Line Ave. The field is on your immediate right.

    Park across the street in lot.

     



Upper Washington Park - "Arnerich Field"

(corner of Central Ave & 8th Street)

Directions:
If coming from out of town...

  • Take Highway 880 like you're going to the Oakland Airport.

  • Take the High Street exit and go West (towards the bay).

  • Go over bridge and into Alameda.

  • Take a RIGHT on Central Ave.  

  • Go all the way across the island until you pass 8th Street.  
    The field is on your left.

    Street parking only along Central, 8th and adjacent streets.



College of Alameda

(off Atlantic - west end of island)

Directions:

From out of town:
   Coming from the North (from Pinole, Richmond, Berkeley, etc.)...

  • Take Hwy 80-South.

  • Take the Alameda/San Jose/880 turnoff.

  • On 880, take the first Alameda/Broadway (Downtown Oakland) turnoff.

  • At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn RIGHT onto 5th Street.

  • Follow 5th street (runs below/adjacent to freeway) until you see the Alameda/Webster Tube exit on your left.

  • Take the Webster tube from Oakland into Alameda.
    This puts you on Webster Street.

  • Turn RIGHT on Atlantic (first signal), then RIGHT on West Campus Dr.

  • Follow W. Campus to the back and then turn RIGHT into the parking area.

   Coming from the South (from Hayward, Fremont, San Jose, etc.)...

  • Take Hwy 880-North towards Oakland.

  • Take the Broadway exit in Oakland.

  • At bottom of off-ramp, turn LEFT.

  • Once under the freeway, get in far-left lane and take a sharp LEFT into the Alameda/Webster Tube.

  • Take the Webster tube from Oakland into Alameda.
    This puts you on Webster Street.

  • Turn RIGHT on Atlantic (first signal), then RIGHT on West Campus Dr.

  • Follow W. Campus to the back and then turn RIGHT into the parking area

   Coming from the East (from Orinda, Concord, Antioch, etc.)...

  • Take Hwy 24-West-to-Hwy 980/Downtown Oakland.

  • Take the Alameda/12th St. Exit.  On offramp, veer left onto Brush Street.

  • Go straight on Brush Street about 1/4 mile, down under the freeway and turn LEFT onto 5th Street.

  • Follow 5th street (runs below/adjacent to freeway) until you see the Alameda/Webster Tube exit on your left.

  • Take the Webster tube from Oakland into Alameda.
    This puts you on Webster Street.

  • Turn RIGHT on Atlantic (first signal), then RIGHT on West Campus Dr.

  • Follow W. Campus to the back and then turn RIGHT into the parking area.

From Alameda:

  • Go towards the west-end of the island to Webster Street.
    (Encinal or Central are the easiest ways to get over there.)

  • Turn RIGHT on Webster towards the tube.

  • Turn LEFT on Atlantic, then RIGHT on West Campus Dr.

  • Follow W. Campus to the back and then turn RIGHT into the parking area.

Washington Manor (Stenzel Park)

(Inter-League Games in San Leandro)

Directions:

  • Take Doolittle past Marina Blvd and then past Fairway.

  • Stay in the left lane and turn LEFT at the stop sign (just before dead-end).

  • Curve around until you get to a "T" in the road.

  • Turn RIGHT on Wicks, and then go through signal on Manor Blvd.

  • Stenzel Park will be on your left.

There's street parking and a parking lot just past the field.


San Leandro Ball Field

(San Leandro)

  • Take Doolittle (or 880) to Marina and turn LEFT over the freeway.
  • After the shopping center, turn RIGHT on Teagarden. 

The ball field's about 1/4 mile down on the right.


American High

(Fremont)

  • Take 880 south to the Thorton Ave. exit.  
  • Take Thorton Ave EAST (towards hills) and cross back over the freeway.  
  • Go 6 blocks to Fremont Blvd.  
  • Turn LEFT on Fremont and go past the next traffic light.  

The school is on the right-hand side. 


Southgate
(Hayward)

  • Take the Tennyson Rd. West exit off of 880. 

  • Turn RIGHT at the second light which is Sleepy Hollow.   Proceed on Sleepy Hollow as the road curves to the left, you will see the park on the right.  

  • Turn RIGHT on Chiplay St

The field is behind the playground.


San Leandro High School

(San Leandro)

  • Take Doolittle (or 880) to Davis and turn LEFT over the freeway and cross East 14th.
  • Davis turns in to Callan Ave.
  • Go to the end of Callan and turn RIGHT on Bancroft.
    The High School is about 3/4 mile down on the left.  The field is behind the school.
    (The entrance to the Varsity field is just before the school; easy to miss.)

Greenman
(Oakland)

  • Get on 880 to 66th (the street that leads to the north entrance to the Oakland Coliseum).

  • Go east on 66th (towards the hills).

  • Go about 4 blocks past San Leandro Blvd.

  • The field will be on your right (just past Lucille Street) 


McConnell Field
(Oakland)

  • Go east on Hegenberger... Hegenberger turns into 73rd Avenue.

  • Turn RIGHT on Bancroft.

  • Turn RIGHT on Ritchie (just past 79th St.).  You'll see the field.
    Park in the lot beyond right field.

Raimondi
(Oakland)

  • Take 880-North.

  • Go past the Hwy-980/24 turnoff... staying on Hwy-880 towards SF.

  • Take the 7th Street Exit towards West Grand Ave.

  • Turn RIGHT on 7th St.

  • In less than 1/4 mile, turn LEFT onto Wood Street

  • Go to 18th Street (another 3/4 mile).  You'll see the field on your right.
    (Corner of Wood & 18th).

Brookfield
(Oakland)

  • Goes East (towards hills) on Hegenberger over freeway to Edes (just past Jack in the Box).

  • Turn RIGHT on Edes and go past the DMV Office.
    Brookfield Park will be on the right hand side just past 85th.

Carter
(Oakland)

  • Take 880-North to Hwy-980/24 East

  • Take the 51st Street/Telegraph Exit

  • Stay in the right-hand lane

  • Turn RIGHT on 51st Street

  • Turn RIGHT on Telegraph

  • Turn LEFT on 48th Street
    The field will be on your right.

Krusi Park

(corner of Otis Drive and Mound Streets)

Directions:
If coming from out of town...

  • Take Highway 880 like you're going to the Oakland Airport.

  • Take the High Street exit and go West (towards the bay).

  • Go over bridge and into Alameda.

  • Take a RIGHT on Otis Drive.  The fields are on that same block on your right.

    Street parking only.



Stargell Field

(Encinal High School)

Directions:

  • Go west on Central Ave (or Encinal Ave. to Central) towards the old base. 

  • When you reach 3rd Street (you'll see Encinal High School on your left) turn LEFT before the school. 

  • Either park in the street or they usually have a back parking area open. 

  • To get to the parking area, turn RIGHT when you see the baseball field and go down the driveway.


Castro Valley High

(Castro Valley)

Directions:

  • Take 880-S to 580-E.
  • Take the first Castro Valley exit.  You will be on Castro Valley Blvd.
  • Turn LEFT On Santa Maria, then turn RIGHT on Mable.  
    The school is on the left. 

Camp Parks Field

(Dublin)

Directions:

  • Take Highway 580 East.
  • Exit at Hopyard/Dougherty (one exit east of highway 680).
  • Go north - back over the freeway - on Dougherty Road. 
  • After about 1/4 mile, turn right on Dublin Blvd. 
  • The guarded entrance to Camp Parks is about 1/2 mile on the left.
    Camp Parks is a military installation. 
    Every adult in the car needs a photo ID to get on the base. 
  • From the guard's gate, go about 1/2 mile and then turn right and go about another 1/2 mile. 
    The field is behind the barracks.

It's probably best to double-check the directions to the field when you get to the guard's gate.

American High

(Fremont)

  • Take 880 south to the Thorton Ave. exit. 
  • Take Thorton Ave EAST (towards hills) and cross back over the freeway. 
  • Go 6 blocks to Fremont Blvd. 
  • Turn LEFT on Fremont and go past the next traffic light. 

The school is on the right-hand side.

Northgate Park

(Fremont)

  • Take 880 south to the Fremont Blvd. exit. 
  • Cross back over the freeway onto Fremont Blvd. 
  • Turn LEFT on Paseo Padre (2 lights down).
  • Turn LEFT on Rowland.
    The field is at the end of Rowland. 

Hayward Fields

(Southgate and Mt. Eden)

Directions:

  • SOUTHGATE - Take the Tennyson Rd. West exit off of 880. Turn RIGHT at the second light which is Sleepy Hollow.   Proceed on Sleepy Hollow as the road curves to the left, you will see the park on the right.  Turn RIGHT on Chiplay St. The field is behind the playground.

  • MT. EDEN (JV & Varsity Fields) - Take the Tennyson Rd. West exit off of 880. Turn LEFT at the first light which is Calaroga St.   Proceed on Calaroga approximately 1 mile.   You'll see the High School fields on the right.

PRACTICE FIELDS

Welcome to our daily dilemma.  We're always short on fields.

There are some grassy areas around the College of Alameda to warm-up, but it's not good for a full-scale practice.

Here's a map of some other Alameda field locations that you can try (on a first come, first served basis).

TIME OFF

  • Webster Street - Walking distance from the field.  Restaurants, Walgreens Drug Store, Starbucks, Banks, etc.

  • Marina Village - Restaurants, Groceries, Coffee, Banks, etc.

  • Park Street - Downtown shopping district.  Restaurants, Shopping, Coffee, Banks, etc.

  • SouthShore Shopping Center - Big 5 Sporting Goods, Trader Joe's, Restaurants, Mervyn's, Groceries, Shopping, etc.

  • USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier/Museum - World War II Aircraft Carrier Museum. This warhorse participated in World War II and the Apollo 11 manned space missions.  Open seven days a week.

  • Crown Beach - Largest sand beach in San Francisco Bay.

  • Crab Cove Park & Beach - Park, picnic, and beach.
